NUCRUSH QUARRY & LOCAL SCHOOLS
Our Community Relations Co-ordinator, Kristin, hosted Kedron State High School on their Earth Sciences annual visit to Oxenford Quarry on 14th August. The students collected information on why the Nucrush quarry is located where it is, and to compare to another historical quarry that is no longer operational. They are encouraged to recognise the benefits of the quarry from both a financial and geological perspective.
The students and teachers were driven around the quarry in a tour bus, with commentary provided by our Quarry Manager, Lester, showing them the pit, crusher and other equipment and operations whilst discussing the geology of the location.
The students apparently loved the tour but were disappointed when they couldn’t persuade our bus driver to take them to the local McDonalds drive-through.
Our Nucrush Sales Representative, John, was on site at Hart Street when the IT Teacher and the Groundskeeper from Coomera State School came to select rocks we donated through our Nucrush Good Neighbour Programme for their frog pond rejuvenation project.
The project is part of the School Science Week activities, which is all about sustainability; one of the key criteria of our community focus.
Throughout 2017, the Nucrush Group were proud Community Partners with the Titans; sponsoring many Titans Coaching Clinics and 'My Hero Reads too' programmes at local schools, and also Half Time Mini Leagues at home games.
